Walking toward your story, together.

“I can tell you that on this path there will be help.”
Jan Richardson, “Beloved is Where We Begin”
Starting is the hardest part…you gave the kick in the butt I think we all need.

It was a very positive adventure….you created an environment which made it very easy…to talk about hard stuff.

If you've ever...
Wanted to record your life experiences or family memories, but not known where to start…
Worried that your stories aren’t worth telling…or wondered why they matter…
Wandered off into the weeds of narrative possibilities and struggled to find your way through the morass…
I can walk with you toward your story.

Hello, fellow wanderer!

I’m Nicole C. Livengood.

In 2024, I left behind an award-winning career in Higher Education because I felt the pull…the call…to find new, enlivening work for my hands and heart. To walk toward my own story, to find something…ineffable.

That “something” started with a solo hike in the English Cotswolds. Since then, I’ve taken it one step at a time. And what an adventure! I’ve offered writing workshops and classes; ghostwritten a memoir; completed a scholarly digital book; and advocated for community health as an AmeriCorps member. I’ve also become a student once again as I pursue certificates in the Transformative Language Arts and in Spiritual Direction.
When I exited the academic career track for this new life, I wondered what I would discover. Each step along the winding trail has confirmed my direction and my heart: for working with the generations above me, those with chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities, people in transition, the soul weary, the spiritually seeking, the wondering, and the wandering.

I would love to accompany you in your own wanderings and wonderings.

My Services
Workshops and Classes
My workshops and classes invite self-reflection and transformation through storytelling. Recent offerings include classes on haiku as a meditative practice, spiritual autobiography, and the body as it changes through time.
This class idea is a unique spiritual journey. It had never occurred to me to take intentional time to study various lifetime situations when I needed and then received personal assistance from God!
B., "Small Stories, Big God" student
Ghostwriting and Freelance Writing
My ghostwriting and freelance writing foster storytelling for individuals and organizations. Recent projects include ghostwriting a memoir and working with a church to design and pilot a newsletter feature.
Through her gift of storytelling, Nicole has beautifully captured the heart of our ministry by writing compelling “Spotlights" that highlight the dedication and impact of those who serve. We are truly grateful for her talent and passion for sharing the stories that matter.

Research and Consulting
My research skills and consulting services support those who want to preserve and enhance their stories. Recent projects include consulting on methods to preserve and organize treasured family archives, and providing a researcher with strategies for using online genealogical resources.
Nicole offered an amazing one-on-one virtual tutorial, in which she asked sensitive questions to figure out where we were starting...so that I could hone some foundational skills. She’s kind, patient, and an incredibly good listener and seasoned teacher, who will tailor her work with you as you go.
M., research client
It was welcoming and I anticipated the class each week. It gave me a sense of purpose though I am still finding my voice.

I didn't realize how much I needed space to just stop and be.
